The Antioch Educational Center (AEC) is proud to announce its first school supply giveaway that will be held on August 29, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The school supply giveaway will be held on the campus of AEC, located at 7557 West Main Street, Ridgeland, South Carolina.
AEC is providing school supplies to offset the great need that exist in Jasper County for its approximately 2,500 low income students who are enrolled in the Jasper County School District. “All of JCSD’s students receive free or reduced lunches because of their economic status. This year, this is even more burdensome because many of Jasper’s residents are out of work due to the Coronavirus. Our students need this extra support. We are also adding the estimated 130 Head Start students to this number as well., stated Surenda Burrisom, Board member for AEC.”
AEC sent out a call to its friends and supporters asking all of them to help obtain the much needed school supplies. “Once the calls went out, the work began.” Our friends and neighbors from Hilton Head Island took the lead on this project. It has been just amazing how many caring persons there are in our region,” concluded Burrison.
This drive through event will include food in addition to the much needed school supplies. Area businesses have jumped in to make this event an even larger success.
Parents are asked to bring a government issued ID and birth certificate for each child. Parents are also asked to wear a mask and not exit their vehicle as they travel through line at the supply giveaway. This giveaway is limited to students in Jasper County who are members of low income households.
